This tribal necklace is made of woven bush twine accented with many flying fox teeth and giri-giri shells. The native piece has a dark patina appearance which comes from use.

Flying foxes are giant fruit bats commonly found in New Guinea and Australia. Villagers often catch and eat the bats which are considered a powerful totemic animal.

This native necklace measures 19 inches in length.
