Storyboard, Papua New Guinea, #8847

#8847 Carved storyboards grew out of painted bark ceiling panels. Ancestor stories and legends were painted on bark panels to line the ceilings of the men’s house (Haus Tambaran) and a family’s home. 21.5 inches wide and 11.5 inches high. Looks like maybe a headhunting raiding party but I wonder what that little guy hiding under the canoe is doing. Kambot, Bobten, and Simondu Villages, Keram River, Papua New Guinea
