Clay and vegetable-based paints, in addition to cassowary feathers, decorate this woven pig clan totem from the Mumeri Village of Krosmeri River in the middle Sepik region.

Animal totems, such as this one, are used as dream vehicles or spirit catchers to help the clan member move around. Many of the totems are represented by wild pigs, a strong and formidable partner for the clan member.

This totem measures 15.25 inches long and 7.5 inches tall.
