Bioma figure, Wapo Creek and Era River areas, Papuan Gulf, Papua New Guinea.

Bioma figures were used in the men’s house as part of the headhunting culture. Bioma figures were placed in front of the gope boards which were set in front of clan partitioned areas that contained the skulls obtained in headhunting raids.  Biomas were set on the floor, straddling a crocodile skull and a pig skull. 45 inches tall.
