Primordial Ancestor Figure, Imbaundo Village, Lower Sepik River. The long-nose ancestor image is common in the lower Sepik and Ramu river villages. This figure is a bilum hook that is hung in the house and used for storing the ubiquitous bilum bags. Painted black with the incised designs filled with white clay paint. It is 30.5 inches tall.
