Product Description
Small New Guinea Highland Bilum Bag. Bilums are woven in a unique continuous figure-eight knotting technique. They serve as pockets, purses, backpacks, grocery/game bags, baby carriers. They are used to store food, belongings, & ceremonial items. Virtually everyone in New Guinea carries one
I recently obtain some older bilums that have been in a collection for many years. They have all been used and show that. This one is old but has no holes or major damage.
It measures, roughly 8 inches wide by 10 inches deep, not counting the strap. Of course they expand greatly beyond this size
